The Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) program is a national designation program designed, written, and delivered by brokers, for brokers. Your technical knowledge, general business competency, and professionalism will be enhanced as a result of taking this series of courses. As a result, you will gain the means to develop new sales markets and enhance your opportunities for career advancement. Knowledge and skills learned throughout the program are immediately transferable to daily brokerage operations. This program may be offered in various study formats : self study, discussion groups, evening classes or immersion & is suitable for customer service representatives, producers, and managers.

The program is divided into four parts, covering personal lines, commercial lines, management, and finance from a broker's perspective. The program may be taken purely to increase your knowledge, or you can write each of four national exams, to obtain the CAIB designation. Candidates who successfully complete all of the examinations must meet all the qualifications of the designation in order to be elected by the IBAC Board of Directors to carry the CAIB designation. The designation carries with it the responsibility to continue the process of professional development.

Provinces using this program for step licensing are: British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Saskatchewan, Manitoba.
