Insurance Agents Licensing Regulations     posted: December. 4, 2003
Amendments to the Regulations Respecting the Licensing of Insurance Agents...
Step Licensing Update - posted: October 28, 2005
The Province is considering postponing the implementation of Step Licensing for one year until January 1, 2007 in order to make the regulations clearer and to better reflect their intent. If the Province decides this, we will know very soon.
In the event that Step Licensing is postponed, the Province has agreed that during 2006 either the Provincial exam based on Fundamentals of Insurance or the IBAC exam based on CAIB ONE can be used for licensing purposes.
IMPORTANT NOTICE - posted: July 14, 2005
The wording as per IBANS FINAL STEP LICENSING PROPOSALS sent to the office of the Superintendent of Insurance on January 12, 2000 as it relates to CAIB 1 is accurate noting a level one broker must have EITHER Fundamentals of Insurance OR CAIB 1.
A level one licensed broker need not have Fundamentals as well as CAIB 1 not both as the regulations indicate. This will be revised in due time.
