Insurance Awards 2010

The Insurance Awards Program, presented by the Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia (IBANS), recognizes significant peer achievements and best practices by members of the broker community, in the delivery of service and support of the broker distribution channel. 

 

 

There are six categories for which nomineess are assessed on specific criteria. The categories include: Client Service Award; Training Award; Young Broker of the Year; Insurance Representative of the Year, Volunteer Services and Brokerage of the Year.  All submissions will be reviewed by a committee of industry professionals with awards being presented at a gala dinner April 15, 2010, The Marriott Harbourfront Hotel in Halifax.

  

The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2010.

Category Criteria

 

Client Service Award: (Individual) Open to all IBANS corporate member employees, nominated by insurance company staff.  A limit of two nominations per insurer will be permitted.

  

Nominees should demonstrate:

  • Superior product knowledge
  • Attention to detail in submissions and/or applications
  • Personal knowledge of clients
  • Timeliness in dealing with customer service requests
  • Add value to the company/broker relationship.

 

 

Training Award: (Brokerage) Open to IBANS corporate members, nominations will be accepted from IBANS members only.

  

Nominees should meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate how the brokerage best promotes and encourages professional development for their staff

  

 

Young Broker of the Year: (Individual) Open to any IBANS member broker under 40 years of age on April 1, 2010. Nominations will be accepted from any IBANS member or member employee.

 

 The Young Broker of the Year will be:

  • A member of IBANS Young Broker Network (YBN)
  • Active in professional development
  • Active in our industry
  • Active in their community
  • Involved in activites in their own brokerage
  • Demonstrate superior product knowledge
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service.

 

 

Insurance Representative of the Year: (Individual) Employees of insurance companies represented by IBANS member brokers  are eligible for nomination. Nominations will be accepted from any IBANS member or member employee.

  

Nominees should meet the following criteria:

  • Be accessible and responsive to individual broker needs
  • Add value to the company/broker relationship
  • Possess superior product and industry knowledge
  • Be active in both our industry and the wider community.

 

Volunteer Services: (Individual)

Open to all IBANS corporate member employees. Nominations will be accepted from IBANS members only.

 

Nominees should meet the following criteria:

  • Conscientiously perform volunteer activities annually.
  • Participated in activities that have positively contributed to the quality of life for their communities on a wholly volunteer basis (not for pay)
  • Inspire the spirit of volunteerism in others.

  

Brokerage of the Year: (Brokerage) Open to all IBANS corporate members. Nominations will be accepted from IBANS members or member employees only.

 

 The Brokerage of the Year should:

  • Be active in both our industry and the wider community
  • Have an active professional development program, both in-house and through external sources
  • Demonstrate corporate policies that promote good business practices
  • Be able to outline their customer service initiatives.

  

The Brokerage of the Year should demonstrate how they are differentiating themselves from their competitors and promoting the broker distribution channel.  The selection committee will take into consideratin the number of staff in relation to the size of the brokerage.
