We also hope to keep these individuals motivated and encouraged to assume greater responsibilities in their offices and in the association and elevate their level of professionalism.

Most YBN do this by providing education days, newsletters, hosting events such as golf tournaments and functions designed for networking with other industry personnel.

Other YBNs hold several social / fund raising events such as curling bonspiels or golf tournaments.

Meet and greet evenings are held to allow industry personnel such as underwriters, vendors etc. an opportunity to network with the young brokers of our industry. Education days, which combine learning with a social element, are also common.

NS YBN has some fun events planned for the very near future and as we are just 'newly minted', we are still in the process of investigating other opportunities to motivate and entertain the youth of our industry.

Members of the Nova Scotia YBN are encouraged to work with the IBANS board to accomplish goals of the association as well.

The existing YBNs are made up of a mix of Broker Principals, Producers, Customer Service Representatives and clerical staff.

Persons who hold a general insurance broker license, are members of the Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia (IBANS), and are under forty years of age may become members of the YBN. There is no fee to belong to the Nova Scotia YBN.

If you are interested in joining this fun and informative network, please speak with your brokerage principal to obtain his/her approval, as some events may take you out of the office from time to time.
