What is an Insurance Broker?

An insurance broker is someone whose primary role is to work for the consumer. A broker's job is to source insurance products from an array of insurance companies finding the products that best meet the unique needs of the consumer.

Insurance brokers offer consumers four distinct advantages: choice, service, professionalism and on-your-side advocacy throughout the claims process.

Brokers offer you choice among insurance products and can assist you in finding the coverage that works best for you.

Claims Advocacy

Brokers represent your interests and advocate for you throughout the claims process.

Brokers are licensed insurance professionals. Through continuing education and professional designations brokers are prepared to provide the most knowledgeable service on  insurance products.  Brokers in Nova Scotia are regulated by the Superintendent of Insurance and IBANS members are bound by the Privacy Act and our own Code of Ethics.

There are over 1,100 professional insurance brokers throughout the province and in most communities able to serve you.
