The YBN is a committee of brokers across the province who are under the age of 40. Part of their mission is to provide students with information on the benefits of joining the insurance industry, and in turn recruit students to join the insurance field. The YBN is a committee of the Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia (IBANS).
The YBN Bursary is a $500 award given to a Business Administration student taking a concentration in Financial Services at the Nova Scotia Community College. The bursary is part of a larger strategy aimed at attracting young professionals to our industry. The Bursary is awarded twice a year. If there are no candidates taking a concentration in Financial Services, any student in the Business Administration program may apply. The money is collected through fundraising at YBN sponsored events.
The applicants must submit an application to IBANS Professional Development Coordinator. Applications are then reviewed by the YBN Committee who selects a recipient based on the established criteria. The bursary is directly applied to the recipient’s tuition at the NSCC. The YBN would like the opportunity to personally meet the selected recipient and take a photo which will be published in our national publication – The Atlantic Broker Magazine.
