Did you know that if you have a seasonal dwelling, like a summer cottage or a trailer, you can also insure this dwelling under your homeowners, tenant, or condo policy?

It’s true! The Seasonal Residence Form (IBC 1173) can be used to insure seasonal dwellings, outbuildings and your personal property. Some insurers will agree to provide the broader coverages of the Homeowners Basic Form (IBC 1151) when certain eligibility requirements are met.

Unlike the comprehensive coverages provided by many homeowner’s policies, there is no coverage for the following property and /or losses:

Loss of property due to a change in temperature

                Freezer food

                Outdoor trees, plants and shrubs.

For more information on insuring seasonal dwellings, contact your insurance broker.
