As technology advances consumers are seeing advantages in all aspects of their lives, even in their insurance.  For instance, many insurance companies and brokers offer apps that can assist consumers in reporting auto accidents; obtaining quotes for home and car insurance; submitting claim information; or downloading forms such as inventory checklists.

Some insurance companies have also expanded their policies to include technology designed to monitor your home while you’re away.  An example being when you’re away from your dwelling for more than 96 consecutive hours, homeowners can now use installed temperature sensors to monitor room temperature 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and replace the need to have someone physically present to check the dwelling daily.    In addition, technology like telematics can be used to monitor driving performance.  As a result your premiums may be reduced based on how safe and conscientious a driver you are instead of paying for insurance based on the average driver.

Why not take a few minutes to ask your Broker about how technology can affect your insurance.
