Your Summer at Gallagher

Our internship program is looking for driven individuals interested in exploring a career in sales that is rewarding personally, professionally, and financially. The Gallagher Sales Internship Program is a robust program commencing offered between May to August. The Internship (one position) will be based in either the Dieppe, NB or Halifax, NS office and will gain full exposure to our operations in the Atlantic Region. The focus will be to gain a well-rounded understanding of the insurance brokerage industry and broad understanding of commercial insurance and commercial sales strategies. We will offer you a comprehensive “learning by doing” experiences including short-term projects and assignments as well as networking and sales challenges.

Most of our entry-level producer hires first experienced Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. as an intern. We are very proud of this fact, and think it speaks volumes about our one-of-a-kind Company and culture.

Sample Intern Projects and Responsibilities

• Understanding Consultative Selling: Shadowing Gallagher producers, consultants and underwriting teams as they meet with clients and prospects to gain a better understanding of Gallagher’s sale s and marketing process
• Professional Development: Attending various weekly training engagements to further develop critical qualities of a successful client service and sales professional
(i.e. communications, business etiquette, etc.)
• Building Professional Acumen: Learning about Gallagher’s Risk Management, Benefits, Wholesale and Claims businesses to gain a better understanding of clients’ needs and opportunities for growth
• Culture: Adopting Gallagher’s unique culture, the “Gallagher Way” on how to ethically serve our external and internal clientele
• Being a Team Player: Assisting in various regional and/or branch projects to support Gallagher’s sales and service initiatives. Provide assistance with various miscellaneous office projects

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications

• Preference is a 2nd or 3rd year University student, ideally studying business with some exposure to insurance programs
• Strong curiosity and passion for a career in insurance sales and risk management
• Competitive spirit and desire to demonstrate high energy and enthusiasm on-the-job
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and ability to multitask
• Active participant in a competitive and/or sales-based environment
• Desire to work, learn and grow within an entrepreneurial environment
